Para-coaching is intensive, issue-based coaching, organized by HR departments and line managers for individual employees who need support urgently. It is most effective to address issues such as;

  • Destructive behaviour that affects individual output and disrupts team members
  • Prolonged sick leave due to stress
  • Demotivation and apathy
  • Continued procrastination over urgent tasks
  • Employee support following redundancy announcements
  • Conflict

When an employee is off sick, unproductive or even disruptive, it affects the company bottom line. It is vital to address any issues quickly and effectively so the employee can return to full speed, or alternatively, agree mutually to effect a departure. With regard to the latter, in case of a dispute at a later date, if a coaching programme has been put in place, it might support an employer's case if they can show that they have offered their employee every reasonable support during their employment.

Para-coaching is a cost and time-efficient way for companies to quickly arrange support for an employee to get to the core of a problem and sort it out. It is particularly helpful that it introduces an impartial third party to manage the situation so the employee feels they can speak freely and confidentially. However, during the initial contracting, there will be an agreed process whereby the outcome of the coaching is fed back to the employer and sometimes a facilitated meeting between the two parties to discuss the forward plan.

What Does Para-coaching Involve?

Para-coaching is always tailored to the individual situation and draws on our full battery of interventions and processes.

The programme may cover one session, several sessions in short succession or support over a longer time frame. We will meet with you and the employee initially to find out what is going on and what your required outcomes are then, we will quickly agree with you a programme of appropriate content and length.
